Health Information Security Leaders from Duke, Tufts, VMWare to Join AEHIS Board

ANN ARBOR, MI, Dec. 12, 2017 –  The Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS) announced today that two members will assume three-year terms on the AEHIS Board, effective Jan. 1, 2018. In addition, the AEHIS Foundation members elected a representative to fill an open position on the board.

The new board members are Chuck Kesler, chief information security officer at Duke Health in Durham, N.C.; Will Long, vice president and chief information security officer at Children’s Health System of Texas in Dallas; and in the Foundation role, Christopher Logan, Sr., healthcare strategist at VMWare, which is headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif.

“We had an excellent slate of candidates and this was a close race,” said AEHIS Board Chair Deborah Stevens, vice president and chief security officer at Tufts Health Plan in Watertown, Mass. “AEHIS made great strides in 2017 and Chuck, Will and Christopher will help us build on that foundation to bring members even more benefits in 2018 and beyond.”

The AEHIS Board plays a critical role in steering the overall direction of the association, which provides education, networking and advocacy opportunities for chief security officers and senior security executives in healthcare-related organizations. This past year, board members helped plan a successful inaugural Fall Summit, established new committees and added new information sharing and educational opportunities for members. Membership has grown to nearly 750 since AEHIS was launched in 2014 under the auspices of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
