2019 Board Leadership

1.9.19
By Sean Murphy, 2019 AEHIS Board Chair and CISO, Premera Blue Cross

As we kick off 2019, I’d like to first take a moment to thank our departing board members for their strong commitment to AEHIS over the last three years. As a young association, we took steps initially to balance our board, and this “graduating class” of departing board leaders represents the first three-year full term served by our board leaders. I’d like to thank Erik Decker, Sharon Finney, Chuck Kesler, and our industry partners Clearwater Compliance and CynergisTek, Inc. for their hard work on countless AEHIS initiatives.

I’m pleased to announce our newest members added to the AEHIS board.

  • Sri Bharadwaj, director of clinical and business applications and chief information security officer at UCI Health.
  • Dan Bowden, vice president and CISO at Sentara Health
  • Fabricio Gamboa, Epic security coordinator at Southern Illinois Healthcare

Sri Bharadwaj served as the chair of the 2018 AEHIS Fall Summit planning committee, helping us execute on our ambitious 2018 agenda. He has over 20 years of governance, risk and compliance expertise and over 12 years of information security experience in healthcare. Prior to joining UCI Health, he consulted with Integrated Delivery Networks around accountable care organizations, health information exchanges and population health management. He currently represents the provider community at the Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC) and is the co-chair of the TG-7 Marketing and Outreach Task Group and a member of the TG-3 Workforce Development Task Group.

Dan Bowden is a long time AEHIS member and has led cybersecurity and technology programs for healthcare, higher education, banking, retail, and the military for the past 25 years. He previously served as the CISO for University of Utah Healthcare. Under his guidance, Sentara Healthcare established a Cyber Students Staffing Program to help pave the way for an anticipated work shortage among cybersecurity experts. He also is active on several HSCC Cybersecurity Work Group teams, collaborating with several top healthcare cybersecurity professionals on documented guidance for all health systems to improve cybersecurity capabilities.

Finally, Fabricio Gamboa is a CHIME boot camp graduate and AEHIS and CHIME Affiliate member with 26 years of IT experience, with 18 in healthcare. In 2013 he was the project manager on the implementation of computerized physician order entry, documentation, and served as physician care manager for Southern Illinois Healthcare. He is currently involved in reducing the turnaround time for access when a new person starts working for the organization. He also is a Steering Committee member on Southern Illinois Healthcare’s mission and values team and a mentor to new employees.

Our newest members bring interesting perspectives and new goals to AEHIS’s leadership team. In addition to confirming our newest board members, the AEHIS board voted unanimously to confirm Will Long as vice chair, and myself as board chair for 2019. I look forward to leading our organization further in 2019, capitalizing on the great work that Erik and our previous board chairs started. If you have questions or feedback for the board, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] or the AEHIS team at [email protected].
